Kigali, March 5, 2024 – The Executive Committee of the African Public Procurement Network (APPN) will
convene in Kigali, Rwanda, on March 7 and 8 to transfer the presidency for 2024 from Côte d’Ivoire to
Rwanda. Rwanda’s selection was confirmed during the APPN’s third General Assembly, held from November 13 to 16, 2023, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The Executive Committee, elected in Eswatini in 2022, comprises representatives from the sub-regional networks of West, East, South, North, and Central Africa, maintaining its current composition.
In addition to the handover, the upcoming Kigali meeting will review and endorse several proposals presented by the Technical Secretariat to ensure the network’s efficient operation. These proposals encompass the approval of the 2024 business plan and the adoption of the 2024 budget.
The meeting will feature a hybrid format, accommodating both in-person and online participation. Key members, including the outgoing Chairman, the incoming Chairman, the APPN Vice-Chairman, the Technical Secretary, and two legal experts from Côte d’Ivoire and Mali, will attend face-to-face sessions.
Furthermore, an online Extraordinary General Meeting is scheduled to ratify the documents proposed for
adoption during the Abidjan meeting, as well as to finalize the approval of the APPN 2024 budget.
